Welcome! During Lent I'm only posting once a week, and only doing "quick takes" posts where I write up a few random tidbits in one blog post. If you'd like to see examples of regular posts, check out the links below. I'll resume normal posting after Easter (April 4).

      JENNIFER FULWILER
Five years ago I had never once believed in God, not even as a child. All my life I was a content atheist; it was simply obvious to me that God did not exist. I thought that religion and reason were incompatible, and eventually became vocally anti-Christian. In 2005 I began to have doubts about atheism and started this blog to ask questions of believers. Long story short, I blogged my way from lifelong atheism to Catholicism (my husband and I both entered the Catholic Church in 2007). I now write about faith after atheism. Welcome to my blog, I'm glad you're here!

VITALS: I'm 33, have been married for six years, and have four young children: a 5-year-old boy, 3-year-old girl, 2-year-old girl, and another girl born in March 2009.

        I couldn't agree more

Everyone in my personal life is probably tired of hearing me rant about what young girls are wearing these days. It's really a pet peeve of mine. I cannot believe that everyone else isn't utterly shocked by the new fashion trends for pre-teens.

I don't generally put buttons on my site since I'm lazy and like a clean look, but I'll make an exception for the Moms for Modesty one. I couldn't agree more.

        Moms for Modesty Mission Statement

        * As a Mom for Modesty I believe in common-sense modesty for girls and young women.
        * I believe in refraining from sexualizing our girls and young women.
        * I believe that it is unwise and unfair to taunt boys and young men by permitting my daughter(s) to dress in an immodest manner.
        * I believe that true beauty comes from within and I strive to teach my daughter(s) this truth.
        * I will loyally shop at retailers that provide girls' and young womens clothing that is modest, affordable and stylish.

Do you know about Colleen Hammond's book, and website, Dressing with Dignity? It is quite good and has links to a lot of different vendors (some well known, others not so) of modest clothing.

May I also recommend True Girl Magazine? This magazine is aimed at Catholic girls, ages 12-19, and is a brilliant alternative to the usual sex-filled teen magazine like Teen Vougue and Seventeen. Lots of fun and fashion as well as Catholic catechesis. My sixteen-year-old daughter thoroughly enjoys it.

I've got 4 girls and this is something I always think about. My wife does all the clothes shopping and she does a pretty good job. No bare tummy's, no sassy/rude sayings, no short-shorts, no words on the butt. Just nice looking, cute stuff.
