Wow! I thought I had heard every pithy remark Chesterton ever said. But now that was a real zinger - right to my heart. I think I will print this out and take it with me to Church. Perhaps that will be the attitude adjustment I need to get through Mass. Thanks!

Well said Ersza! My love for Chesterton is well known, but of the three quotes David’s really resonated.

Having at one time been utterly lost, I am so grateful for the gift of faith, of being Catholic, of being able to receive our Lord (all of which I am unworthy of), that I can't understand why anyone would waste the time endlessly critiquing the liturgy.

The word Eucharist is the Greek for Thanksgiving. As far as my imperfect ability to do so allows, I’d rather focus on being thankful than on being a liturgical nitpicker.

Wow! I love that last quote. I'll tell you this hits the nail on the head for me for so many putatively Catholic blogs I read. Why must half of all posts be about liturgical abuse? Sure, I like a nice, reverent, kneely mass myself, but I really don't like to read snarky rants about how somebody doesn't like somebody else's church because of the music, placement of tabernacle, decor, architecture, number of EME's, hand holding during the Our Father, etc. In my opinion, you should take it up with the pastor or vote with your feet, not blog a million words about it. Criminy.
