Uplifting story
I’m still wiping tears from my eyes after reading this story on Feminine-genius, about a couple who arrived in China to adopt what they thought was a healthy baby girl, only to find out after meeting her that she had very serious medical problems. The Chinese agency offered to replace her with a healthy child. Since this was their first child, they felt completely unprepared to handle a special-needs daughter. Check out the story to see how it all unfolded.
===UPDATE===
I see that Melanie covered this story as well, and I love her take on it. I’m going to be thinking about this all day (especially as I struggle a bit with the latest crop of pregnancy/medical issues that have recently come up): “This is what love means, what openness to life means. We are all stronger than we think.” Very insightful. Truly, God will give us the strength we need.

What an incredible story – and what a last line! We are all so much stronger than we think we are, if we only go forth to attempt what we are called to do.
I can’t get over how disposable the little girl was to the Chinese authorities. It was like she was a stuffed toy rather than a human being. I can’t imagine what would have happened to her if the couple had turned their backs and taken another child.
What a story!
