Five years ago I had never once believed in God, not even as a child. All my life I was a content atheist; it was simply obvious to me that God did not exist. I thought that religion and reason were incompatible, and eventually became vocally anti-Christian. In 2005 I began to have doubts about atheism and started this blog to ask questions of believers. Long story short, I blogged my way from lifelong atheism to Catholicism (my husband and I both entered the Catholic Church in 2007). I now write about faith after atheism. A quick note for feed readers
I am probably going to switch my RSS feed to Feedburner at some point. Technically, this should not impact feed readers or anyone else in any way. Ideally, you would probably not even notice a difference if I hadn't mentioned it. But I mention it just in case, you know, something that is supposed to be completely straightforward and simple does not actually turn out to be straightforward and simple. Short of some kind of emergency, I doubt I'd ever go more than five days without updating unless I mentioned it in advance. So if you ever see the feed stop updating it might be worth clicking through to see if I spontaneously stopped updating or if you've been missing out on a slew of posts about some new, bizarre technical problem I'm experiencing.
Also, if you're not currently using a feed reader like Bloglines or Google Reader, stop what you're doing right now and go sign up for one of those free services. You'll thank me later. (Actually, you probably won't, because you'll be glued to your computer 24 hours a day, unable to move until you have read every last new post you see in your reader.)

I've been using a feed reader system since I upgraded to IE 7. This feature is built into the toolbar. I note that there are two versions Atom and RSS which seem near identical. It seems that any blog I read I can set up on feed.
I never did subscribed to any service for my own blog page except to enable this feature in the setup behind the blog. There is no icon on my blog page per se for others to subscribe. Is this necessary if visitors don't have IE version 7.0? I see some blogs have the orange icon embedded one their page - others don't. I'm just trying to stay on step ahead of certified technological idiot. Thank you
Oh, one last question. What do I have to do or learn to be able to embed hyperlinks when I make comments at someone else's blog? This is a great mystery to me. Double thanks.
I'm pretty sure Feedburner just creates an additional feed, rather than replacing the ones you have. I haven't explored the site thoroughly though.
Feedburner takes your existing feed and repackages it so it looks nice and plays well with others. It will not change your previous feed, just use it to create another with all kinds of bells and whistles.

You're right! One wouldn't thank you. Due to the ease of subscribing and reading via Google Reader, I follow over 130 blogs. Stress!!!
Making comments with italics was effortless and changing typeface to bold was easy as pie.
Now making hyperlinks is a mystery no longer and I'm enjoying Perfect Joy.

That thing about Google Reader and being glued to the screen? Did you fail to mention that it also makes you able to completely ignore your children, even if they are bleeding for every orifice and screaming at an octave known only to fire engines? Oh wait. NO, that's not the fault of Google Reader. That's not fair of me. It's MY fault. But still.
