Fr. Joseph, sometime has pasted since your funeral on that Wednesday, October 20th, 2010. I will never forget that day. The day, I met your youngest brother Michael Gerald and his wife Kara on the train the morning of the 20th before our arrival in Los Angeles. We met as complete strangers on the Southwest Chief sleeper car where we were only separated by one room (same car and same floor).

The night before, I was reading the book "Mother Teresa Secret Fire" and the next morning Michael would be standing at my door asking, "Why do you have that book?" Michael was lead to invited me to go with them to the Missionaries of Charity house in Tijuana to be present at your funeral.

Since the 20th, my life has forever changed. I am returning to the Garden of the Missionaries of Charity Sisters in Pacifica, California, to serve God. I have much to learn and I will follow God's path.

We'll miss you. I will continue to share the story and the "good news". God is Present!

Our family has been blessed to have witnessed Fr. Joe's faithful following of God's call since his teen years. And now God has called him home. We remember in prayer his family, the MC family and those whom Fr. Joe touched personally and through his writings.

I came across the death of Fr Joe in our local Catholic newspaper. (Aurora, IL.) I was so thankful to our dear Lord who made me aware of his death. I was priviledged to have had him for a regular confesssor for about a year while living outside Rome in 1981. He was such an inspiration to me! It was good to hear Sherry's comment of "his gentle love." As he possessed it way back then too, along with a great patience and availability. He taught me 2 lessons that year which will always remain with me! God bless you Fr. Joseph and all the work you have accomplished in your too short of life here on earth! Thank you Fr Curtis for your notes about him on this site. He is being remembered along with all you Missionaries and your work in my daily prayers.

Thank you so much for everyone who has written in to share with us about Fr. Joseph's passing. It's still hard to believe he's gone -- he was such an amazing light to the world. I will be praying for him, and asking for his prayers as well!

Fr. Joseph died yesterday morning at 1:10am. At about 12:30 he felt pain throughout his body and especially in his shoulders. He made a call to his doctor who supposed he had had a heart attack. She asked the nurse on duty to give him the appropriate medicine and to inform her of his status. The medicine didn't help, as Father continued to have pain and there was no change in his blood pressure. The doctor asked that he be taken to the hospital where she would be when he arrived. We never left for the hospital. Father lost consciousness. As I arrived to his room, the nurse was calling his name and checking his eyes which were now closed. There was no sign of pain in his face, but he was breathing very slowly. I blessed him and called for the holy oils to be brought for anointing. He was anointed as he was taking his last breaths. ...And he went home to God.

Dear friends:
I came in contact with this web site, and I am so thankful for all the prayers you offered for Fr. Joseph Langford mc our co-founder. As he wrote in his e-mail that there were two roads ahead of him: to continuing writing or to eternal life; the sad news is that the latter has happened, he went home to God Oct 14th at 1:20am.
Please pray for the eternal rest of his soul by offering holy masses and praying the holy rosary. We the missionaries of Charity Fathers and the whole MC family are very much thankful for all what he did for us and for the whole world through his writings about the Thirst of Jesus.
God bless you all.
