"What is an RSS feed?"

Welcome! During Lent I'm only posting once a week, and only doing "quick takes" posts where I write up a few random tidbits in one blog post. If you'd like to see examples of regular posts, check out the links below. I'll resume normal posting after Easter (April 4).

      JENNIFER FULWILER
Five years ago I had never once believed in God, not even as a child. All my life I was a content atheist; it was simply obvious to me that God did not exist. I thought that religion and reason were incompatible, and eventually became vocally anti-Christian. In 2005 I began to have doubts about atheism and started this blog to ask questions of believers. Long story short, I blogged my way from lifelong atheism to Catholicism (my husband and I both entered the Catholic Church in 2007). I now write about faith after atheism. Welcome to my blog, I'm glad you're here!

VITALS: I'm 33, have been married for six years, and have four young children: a 5-year-old boy, 3-year-old girl, 2-year-old girl, and another girl born in March 2009.

        Undiscovered Gems

I'm going to start a completely sporadic series of posts where I highlight some of my favorite "undiscovered gem" blogs, i.e. blogs that have excellent content but that might not be considered big in terms of having tons of traffic. (The random criteria I came up with to define "undiscovered" is if it has fewer than 100 Google Reader subscribers.)

I've wanted to do this for a while, since so often I'll be reading something on my feed reader and think, "This blog is so good! More people need to be reading it!" Also, I've had various blogs going back to 2004, and I've always noticed that it seems like a lot of blogs that do have a fair amount of traffic primarily link to other high-traffic blogs, and when you're not "one of them" you start to feel like you're stuck in some kind of small blog ghetto. Or maybe that's just me.

Anyway, I'm not sure how often I'll do these posts -- maybe once or twice a month? -- but I hope that you all enjoy these glimpses into some of my favorite undiscovered gems in the online world!

I like this idea! I love to follow your blog. You've hit so many "nails on the head" for me and opened my eyes to so many things. Would you kindly consider my blog for one of your gems? I hate to be so forward in asking, but I would appreciate it. Thanks.

What a great idea! Some of my favorite blogs aren't "rock star" blogs. I so look forward to reading about some of your finds.

This is a great idea! I really love how thoroughly you introduced The Philosopher Mom's weblog rather than just a quick mention saying "this is great".

Oh, I'm so glad you're doing this. I often feel so "out of it" because I don't have much traffic, but then I have to remind myself that that's not why I do this. My human self thinks it's hard (the lack of traffic) every now and then, though.

I just discovered your blog this morning and LOVE it! What a treasure trove! Also, I've added your link to my FB wall, to share with my friends, and on my bloglist. I'm always so excited to read about converts and the way they arrive at Rome on "their road." For all roads DO lead to Rome, for where the Bishop is, there is the Church, and where the Church is, there is Christ and where Christ is, is Heaven, our goal, aim and real "home" and the best way to get there, is to go the route Jesus laid out for us. HIS CHURCH! God bless. :)

Oooh, I look forward to reading them! Some of my very favorite blogs don't have a whole lot of traffic.

        Fun!

        "Small Blog Ghetto" *chortle*

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean and what that feels like! Or, well, I used to but I haven't blogged since Pentecost (not that I was a particularly amazing blogger or anything). This is a good idea though, I hope it helps some of the small but great bloggers out there get more notice.

Great idea, and great first choice. Erika's a former classmate of mine. Keep up the good work!
